Here is a list of the most common questions you may have before your first visit.
Why do I need to register?
As part of the registration process, you must agree to the Hangar’s rules and conditions, which must be known by everyone who wants to climb at the Hangar. Within safety it’s always good to know what is and what isn’t a good idea. The registration is one-time only, by registering you create a customer account and the bar staff will always know that you have registered already.
Besides, you can use the customer account to make a deposit, buy a season pass or membership.
Why do I need a Hangar chip?
A Hangar chip will speed up your visit every time. Show your chip to the bar staff. They scan the chip and see your customer account.
If you don’t want to carry the chip every time just take a picture of the chip to your mobile phone and show the picture.
Do I have to register again if I have already registered in Hangar Ostrava?
Yes, you do. We know it’s not joyful, but from an official point of view each center requires its own registration. At least you can use one Hangar chip in both centers.
Can a child go climbing?
Sure, children are admirable climbers! However, a child under 13 years of age must be supervised all time in all areas of the Hangar by a parent or other adult, who thereby assumes responsibility for the child.
Youths (13 – 18 years old) will need written consent from a legal representative to climb on their own at the Hangar – available here.
What will I need for my first visit?
The beauty of bouldering is that you need just comfortable sports clothing, climbing shoes and magnesium which is used to keep your hands from slipping. We’ll rent you the climbing shoes and you can buy the magnesium at the reception for a few Czech crowns. We also recommend a towel, you will sweat!
I don't have climbing shoes, can I wear sneakers?
Don’t worry, we’ll be happy to lend you climbing shoes. There are many sizes to choose from and we disinfect them properly after each use. Other shoes are not suitable for climbing and can limit your performance. If you have no other choice, it is no problem to climb in your clean sneakers.
Is it possible to park at the Hangar?
Yes, the Hangar has a large parking lot with spaces in front of the entrance door and in the back behind the Hangar building. If both parking lots are full, you can park in the parking lot next to the Hangar premises.
Can I get public transportation?
We recommend going to the Ústřední hřbitov and Pražákova stops. From both stops you are at the Hangar in 5-10 minutes.
Is there an all-day entrance fee?
Yes, it is. Even if you buy an entry in the morning, you can stay at the Hangar all day.
Is it open on weekends and holidays?
The Hangar is here for you every day. Weekends and holidays. The only exception is Christmas Eve.
